| Each painting is produced in oils on canvas and is supplied framed and ready to hang. (see: frames page).
Each portrait takes on average 6-10 weeks to complete, but this will vary on the complexity of the subject matter and composition. Due to the length of time spent and detail included in each portrait, I work from photographs, which I am happy to take if you don't have a favourite in mind. |

click to enlargeEach portrait is built up with layer upon layer of fine oil paint, which creates a three-dimensional quality even though the finished painting will be smooth and flat. I prefer to use soft watercolour brushes to apply the colour as opposed to the more traditional stiff hogshair bristle. I find that this creates a far softer feel to the finished article and detail is sharp and highlighted (see inserts).
